My update log is where I note changes to this web server. Expect bursts of activity and long periods of neglect.
A web based genealogy viewer that I'm trying out. This is PhpGedView and looks promising.
I'm currently using a program called Gramps to maintain my data.
About this web site
I'm a programmer, not a graphic designer, expect plain text and nothing too fancy. Since I'm just getting started here, expect things to move around.
Corrections
Typos, misunderstandings, missing data, misattributions are all inevitable. If you have corrections or additions to things you see here, send me an e-mail at kerry@maine.edu.
About this machine
This web site used to be running on an old Pentium 200MMX with 256MB of memory and 37GB of disk that I used as a firewall, print server, file server and now web server. It was not a brand name machine, but one I cobbled together from parts. It was running linux, specifically, Fedora Core 2.
As of 2004-08-08 I have replaced it with a Micron PC from Walmart. It was a deal I could not pass up ($168 for a machine with most needed periperals integrated, a 1.6GHz AMD processor and 128MB of memory and no CD or disk). I transfered in my disks and with very little difficulty I was back up and running on a MUCH faster machine. I have upgraded the memory from 128M to 768M. I have replaced the power supply with a quieter one after the original one died.
